irgNET – LAB 6.0 U1
Welcome to Update 1 of the 6th Stage of my HomeLab. Back from my vacation and in full swing. It is official guys – Datacenter 1 and Datacenter 2 are finally connected via 2x 10GbE fibre optic cables through the two Ubiquiti UniFi 8-Port 10 Gigabit SFP+ Aggregation Switches .
As you can see in the picture below, there was quite a bit of work to do, as I laid about 100m of fiber optic cable from Datacenter 1 to 2. My father and my brother have actively supported me in this elaborate project and finally I have the long-awaited performance and the PowerLine adapters are history.
I connected the two cables to the two switches with appropriate transceivers and configured a LAG on the Unifi controller and switches respectively.
Thanks to the great performance, now I have most of the virtual machines in Datacenter 1 and don’t have to worry about the PowerLine adapters losing their connection. Of course, my ActiveDirectory/DNS VMs are redundant on both data centers.
Also, the little Dell PC became irrelevant because resources were freed up on the HPE ML310e Gen8 v2, so I sold that one. And the final state of my HomeLab looks like this:
