irgNET – LAB 6.0
Welcome to the 6th stage of my HomeLab. My entire datacenter is restored with the newest vSphere 7.0 U3e, in the meantime, I have performed DryRuns with my backup, everything is as it should be.
I have removed a few services and added new ones, some services that were active before, will be implemented in the future.
But let us take a look at the real highlight, I upgraded my network infrastructure to 10Gbit. The only bottleneck; both 10Gbit switches on each Datacenters are still connected via PowerLine adapters…., but I am working on it and hopefully I can solve this problem very soon. 😉
I bought 2x Ubiquiti UniFi 8-Port 10 Gigabit SFP+ Aggregation Switch for my environment, because currently there is no need for more Ports and those are quite affordable.
Also you can see in the picture, that I replaced my 24 port 1 Gbit switches with 8 port 1Gbit switches, this has the background, that I have absolutely no further need for more 1 Gbit ports, because there is only the OnBoard Management, the ESX05 (Dell PC), the Ubiquiti Acess Points and the uplink to the 10 Gbit switch. Yes, I could use unmanaged switches, which are also much cheaper – but you know – the force must be with us. 😛
I also have a redundant Active Directory/DNS VM for further disaster cases like disconnect of the PowerLine adapters, so that the services are running on both data centers. Especially in case of single DNS server failure the VMware vCenter Appliance will not work properly.
Well stay tuned, because we are ready for take off – again. 🙂
