irgNET – LAB 2.0 U1
In this small update I have made a spatial separation of the microservers. Just as it should be in medium-sized companies.
For this I purchased two identical HP 1810-24G switches, equipped them with 2x 1 Gbit transceivers and connected them via fiber optic cable (LACP).

The VMware vSphere server was in the living room and the backup server in my office. The backup job was done reliably every morning at 4am and the performance remained constant.
I also used the backup server as a jump host to access my infrastructure from my iPad Pro. Since the resources of the VMware vSphere server were limited to 16GB of ram, I could not implement any other applications in vSphere.
FreeNAS used 8GB of the ram, NextCloud 4GB (due to multiple users) and Pi-Hole 1GB, so we ended up with 13GB ram usage total.
Maybe we will see more about the limitation of resources in the next major update 😉
