irgNET – LAB 1.0
It all started with an HP Microserver Gen8 and VMware ESXi 6.7. One of my colleagues recommended to start with this constellation and that would be my recommendation for anyone out there who wants to get their first experiences with VMware and professional hardware.
The HP Microserver Gen8 is the ideal entry into the server world, which comes with 4x 3,5″ SATA slots, 2x 1Gbit and a dedicated HPE integrated Lights Out (iLO) onboard management interface. If required, the server can be expanded with various Intel XEON CPU’s and 16 GB Ram, offers a x16 PCIe slot e.g. for a graphics card or a 10Gbit network card – perfect!
VMware offers its current ESXi license always with an evaluation time of 60 days to discover and use all features, after that a full license is needed.
Everything connected to a FRITZ!Box 6940 with an 120 Mbits internet connection.
