irgNET – LAB 3.0 U2
In this update we focus on my wireless network, so nothing major. However, I wanted to have a bit of an enterprise feel in my wifi environment as well. So I replaced the Fritz Repeater 3000 and the FritzBox. The FritzBox now only serves as an internet router, the wireless LAN function is turned off.
On recommendation of a colleague I came across Ubiquiti Networks. They offer the UAP-AC-PRO series, with great features, managed by the Unifi WIFI controller, which you can run as a VM or implement as a hardware appliance. With the appropriate PoE (Power over Ethernet) adapter, the access points can also be easily operated without expensive PoE switches.
