irgNET – LAB 2.0

Welcome to the first major update of my Home Lab. In the last update I presented you a productive environment with running applications. Next to this environment a backup strategy should not be missing.

For this purpose, I have purchased another HP Microserver Gen8, on which Microsoft Windows Server 2016 is running natively. As a backup strategy, Veeam came into question for me.

The great thing about Veeam is that it offers a Community Edition so up to 10 virtual, physical and cloud-based workloads can be backed up: e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, Windows and Linux servers, laptops and NAS!

Since the FRITZ!Box 6940 has only a limited number of ports (total 4), it was time to put a switch between the microservers. As a big HPE fanatic, an HPE 1820-8G switch was of course a possibility. The switch offers the following specs:
