irgNET – LAB 1.0 U2
The previously mentioned poor wireless LAN quality was optimized in this home lab update. There were several wireless LAN access point and repeater manufacturers to choose from. I decided for a homogeneous infrastructure and therefore the FRITZ!WLAN Mesh Repeater 3000 came into question and lo and behold, the wireless LAN quality is now at 100%.
You can find the link to the repeater below.
I also implemented a new application in VMware vSphere called Nextcloud. Nextcloud is a free software for storing data (file hosting) on a dedicated server. When using a client, the server is automatically synchronized with a local directory. This allows access to a consistent database from multiple computers, but also via a web interface. Video conferencing and “sharing” one’s own screen are also possible.
Nextcloud can be installed on a private server or web space at no additional cost. With Nextcloud, the owner retains complete control over their data, and opportunities for data misuse are reduced.
I will soon publish an installation guide for this under Advanced Tutorials.
