In today&#8217;s post, I want to walk you through the process, but also highlight a limitation for Dell VxRail Appliances. Set the <strong>active\/passive<\/strong>, <strong>load balancing<\/strong>, and <strong>timeout modes<\/strong>. If necessary, you can also adjust the <strong>port policies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:49px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/picture6-1.webp?resize=151%2C132&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6036\" style=\"width:151px;height:132px\" width=\"151\" height=\"132\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/picture6-1.webp?w=304&amp;ssl=1 304w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/picture6-1.webp?resize=300%2C263&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 151px) 100vw, 151px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:49px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>And now we come to the limitation of VxRail (it doesn&#8217;t matter if you use 7.0.xxx or 8.0.xxx versions), for the &#8220;<strong>VxRail Network<\/strong>&#8221; i.e. management etc. a maximum of 2 ports can be combined in a LAG. The <strong>VMware HCIA Distributed Switch<\/strong>, which will be created during the inital VxRail deployment, is meant here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you want to configure 4 or more ports, the VxRail network will <strong>only use 2 ports<\/strong>. And typically, these 2 ports are combined into a LAG <strong>for vSAN traffic only<\/strong>. As soon as you open one of the uplinks, you will see the defined LAG in addition to the usual uplink, in our case: <strong>PO31-38<\/strong>.
