In this post, I want to give you a feel for how easy the setup of Dell PowerProtect Data Manager is. Starting in the welcome area, you can select whether you want to restore from a backup or whether it is a new installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my case it is a new installation, I skip the view of the EULA which we have to accept either way. Then you can either test PPDM for 90 days or you can provide a license file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the next step we have to assign passwords, you can provide the individual users with different passwords (recommended<\/strong>) in my case it is a HomeLab and therefore the password should be complex but for all users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fundamental things such as NTP should also be configured, this is done on the next screen<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Optional<\/strong>) a mail server can also be configured directly to receive information on data protection, e.g. if a backup is successful or fails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, all parameters are applied to the PPDM appliance, which takes approx. 15 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the setup, access to the PowerProtect Data Manager appliance is possible and we can start with various protection policies etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
