In my case I have changed my whole network infrastructure to 10 Gbit, Linux VMs are easy to migrate but Windows VMs are a little bit problematic, so I want to show you with this example how it works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the VMXNET Generation 3&nbsp;(VMXNET3) adapters in VMware vSphere has better performance, less overhead, and lower CPU usage when compared with the traditional E1000 NIC or previous vmxnet&nbsp;generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The VMXNET3 adapter is a new generation of a paravirtualized NIC designed for performance, and is not related to VMXNET or VMXNET 2. It offers all the features available in VMXNET 2 and adds several new features like multiqueue support (also known as Receive Side Scaling in Windows), IPv6 offloads, and MSI\/MSI-X interrupt delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Power off your Virtual machine (VM) in the VMware Console, remote console or web client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Right-click&nbsp;the VM &gt;&nbsp;<strong>Edit Settings<\/strong>&nbsp;&gt; Next to the Network adapter, click the&nbsp;<strong>Delete &#8220;X&#8221;<\/strong>&nbsp;sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"605\" height=\"456\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/1.jpg?resize=605%2C456&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1088\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/1.jpg?w=605&amp;ssl=1 605w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/1.jpg?resize=300%2C226&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then you&#8217;ll see a message saying that the \u201cDevice will be removed\u201d or the line will be gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:34px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Click on the top&nbsp;<strong>Add Network Adapter<\/strong>&nbsp;and choose&nbsp;<strong>Network Adapter<\/strong>&nbsp;&gt;&nbsp;<strong>Choose VMXNET3<\/strong>&nbsp;under Adapter type<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"605\" height=\"399\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2-1.jpg?resize=605%2C399&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1089\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2-1.jpg?w=605&amp;ssl=1 605w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/irg-net.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/2-1.jpg?resize=300%2C198&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then choose the proper VM network you want the VM to connect to and don&#8217;t forget to check \u201cConnect At Power On\u201d if you want the VM has network connectivity and save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:34px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> In this example, we&#8217;re talking about a Windows Server 2019 VM, so we&#8217;ll switch to Network Connections and see the VMXNET3 NIC is there. We edit the properties and assign the same IP address from the E1000 NIC<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"
